How to Reach Yuksom
By Train: New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is the nearest major railway station. Take a train to NJP from Kolkata or Delhi.
By Flight: Fly to Bagdogra and then take a shared taxi to Yuksom (approx. Rs 3500 per vehicle).
Note: Shared taxis are available from Bus Stand/Railway Station/Airport to Yuksom.

Day 1
Travel from Bagdogra Airport/NJP to Yuksom (5,670ft) by road (7 hours).
Embark on the enchanting journey of this trek as you soak in the breathtaking Himalayan views during the 7-hour drive from Bagdogra Airport/NJP to Yuksom. The scenic route follows the Teesta River, leading you uphill and across a bridge in Legship before reaching Yuksom. Upon arrival in the town, check-in at a hotel and unwind for the day.

Hike from Yuksom to Sachen at an elevation of 7,150ft.

Embark on the first day of the Goechala pass trek! As the morning unfolds, ascend uphill alongside the Rathong River, traversing through dense thickets of magnolia, rhododendron, and ferns. Proceed to the Paha Khola Bridge, where you can enjoy a packed lunch amidst the lush surroundings. Stay energized to spot exotic orchids, colorful flowers, and monkeys along the trek. Upon reaching Sachen, settle into the campsite and conclude Day 1 of the Goechala Trek.

Day 3
Hike from Sachen to Tshokha, reaching an elevation of 9,700ft, passing through Bhakim at 8,600ft along the way.
Duration: 5 hours
Distance: 7 km
Elevation: 9701 ft
Today's trek leads you through fragrant viburnum plantations, crossing the Prek Chu River. After a 2-3 hour uphill hike, you'll arrive at Bakhim. Continuing the ascent, you'll reach Tshoka, a Tibetan refugee settlement, where you'll spend the night at a camp.

Day 4
Hike from Tshoka (9,650 ft) to Dzongri (12,980 ft) via Phedang (12,050 ft), taking approximately 5-6 hours.

On the third day of the Goechala trek package, ascend through picturesque rhododendron forests, following well-defined trails. After a short trek, reach the campsite at Dzongri for an overnight stay.

Day 5
Hike from Dzongri (12,980 ft) to Dzongri Top (13,675 ft) (1 hr) and back to Dzongri. Continue to Thansing (12,930 ft) via Kokchurang (12,100 ft), taking approximately 5-6 hours.

After breakfast at the Phedang campsite, gear up for another picturesque uphill trek during the Goechala pass trek, crossing the 4,000m mark in the Himalayas. Celebrate this achievement with a packed lunch, taking time to relax amidst the scenic vistas and acclimatize to higher altitudes. Resume the climb, reaching the Thansing overnight campsite, offering mesmerizing views of peaks like Koktang, Rathong, Kabru, Khangchendzonga, Simvo, and Pandim.

Day 6
Hike from Thansing (12,930 ft) to Lamuney (13,700 ft) in approximately 2 hours.
Duration: 2 hours
Distance: 4 km
Elevation: 13700 ft
After waking up, spend the day either relaxing at the camp or embarking on a short exploration around the area. This day is essential for acclimatizing to higher altitudes before ascending further. Enjoy your overnight stay in camps.

Day 7
Hike from Lamuney (13,700 ft) to Goechala (15,100 ft) and return to Kokchurang (12,100 ft) in approximately 10-12 hours.
Duration: 10-12 hours

Elevation: 15100 ft
Commence the day early to avoid challenging weather conditions later on. Ascend through moraines, descend to Samiti Lake, and cross the Zemathang Plateau. Resume the ascent over a moraine, reaching Goecha La Pass view point 1 after about 1 hour of trekking. Revel in the breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga and distant peaks before retracing your steps towards Kokchurang for an overnight camp stay.

Day 8
Hike from Kokchurang (12,100 ft) to Tshoka (9,650 ft) via Phedang (12,050 ft) in approximately 6-7 hours.
Duration: 7 hours
Distance: 16 km
Elevation: 12900 ft
Rise early to relish the captivating views of the Kanchenjunga Peak from a nearby ridge, then begin the trek back to Tshoka. Opting for a route through the Dzongri Plateau to avoid a lengthy climb, the trail leads through Prek Chu and the deciduous forests of Phedang. Upon reaching Tshoka, settle into the overnight stay camps.

Day 9
Hike from Tshoka (9,650 ft) to Yuksom (5,800 ft) via Bakhim (8,600 ft) and Sachen (7,200 ft) in approximately 6 hours.
Duration: 6 hours
Distance: 15 km
Elevation: 5670 ft
Today, descend alongside the Prek Chu River to reach Yuksom, marking the final stretch of the Goechala trek package. Upon arrival, check-in at a local hotel and enjoy the remaining day at your leisure.

Day 10
Leave from Yuksom.
The Goechala trek package concludes at this point. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel, pack your bags, and proceed to check-out. With this, the remarkable Goecha La trek comes to a close.
